Mr Greenjeans sweater I must decide on yarn. thinking i might want to try tanis fiber in the green label aran weight in Cobalt or Dream in color classy.

Food for thought:

Marinade

5 T Maple Syrup

1/2 C orange juice

1/4C ketchup

2T steak sauce (A1)

1/4t salt

1/4t pepper

1T onion powder

1T garlic powder

Put all of this into a mason jar and shake till mixed well...place protein into a ziplock bag, pour Marinade into bag and put in fridge for a few hours..grill and enjoy. I have used on chicken tights and pork chops

MY Birthday Cake

Finished my Honey Cowl

still working on my Sothia and picked back up my Knuckle Busters.

The sweater that will hit the sticks next will be Mr. Greenjeans by Amy Swenson which was in Knitty Fall 2007

Food For Thought:

Frosting (makes a great match for last shows chocolate cake)

2 1/2 Tbsp Flour

1/2 c Sugar

pinch of salt

1/2 c Milk

1/2 c Shortening

1 tsp Vanilla

On medium heat mix flour & milk in a saucepan while stirring constantly cook until thick (will be like thick glue) Let cool. In a mixing bowl cream together sugar & shortening once that is complete add the flour mixture and beat on high! for 5 full minutes. add the vanilla and stir to ensure it is added mixed together. Whenever I have add this frosting I have DOUBLED the recipe! I suggest doing this.

Mama Chicken is hatching those eggs...right now we have two babies hopefully more but we are trying to not move her very much. I believe Gerry plans on checking things out tomorrow morning.

We went to Northern Solstice Alpaca Farm yesterday for the Alpaca 101 farming class. I learned so much during the 4 hr class and truly feel based on this more detailed look at the farming life style that we could do it. I am looking to boarding cost and things like that right now.

I got some awesome alpaca yarn while visiting there store.

Food for Thought:

Best Chocolate Cake Ever!

PreHeat oven 350 degrees

2C flour

2C white Sugar

1 tsp salt

1 tsp baking Powder

1 tsp baking soda

3/4C Cocoa powder

Mix these items together so everything is mixed well . then add-

1C oil

1C milk

1C HOT coffee

Mix everything for 2 minutes. then add

2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla

Mix everything for another 2 minutes.

Pour into a Greased baking pan of your choice and bake for about 3o mins

Sticks have been a little quiet this week. Still working on my Honey Cowl -you have until april 15 to post a photo of your finished cowl for the contest.

I plan on caking my yarn for the Sothia. The yarn is from the Woolen Rabbit.

The awesome sundress pattern by Heather Ross. You can easily make one of these dress in about 3 hrs for sure..i have it down to about 2 hrs even with breaks.

Food for thought:

Breakfast Pie

Ingredients

  • 3/4 pound breakfast sausage
  • 1/4 cup minced onion
  • 1/8 cup minced green bell pepper (optional)
  • 1 (12 ounce) can refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 cup shredded Colby-Monterey Jack cheese

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  2. In a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat, combine sausage, onion and green pepper. Cook until sausage is evenly brown. Drain, crumble, and set aside.
  3. Separate the dough into 10 individual biscuits. Flatten each biscuit out, then line the bottom and sides of 10 muffin cups. Evenly distribute sausage mixture between the cups. Mix together the eggs and milk, and divide between the cups. Sprinkle tops with shredded cheese.
  4. Bake in preheated oven for 18 to 20 minutes

Homestead:

Our Chickens are doing great. Did you know you could have eggs sent in the regular mail. I guess it should be a big surprise since my 1 old day chicks come in the mail...those we had to pick up at the post office however these eggs were sitting on my doorstep.

this is how the eggs come in the mail..we had 7 eggs in the package (bonus egg) Yippee!

Food For Thought:

Garlic & Lemon Chicken

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Coat a large baking dish with 1 tablespoon of the olive oil.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the remaining oil, lemon juice, garlic, salt, and pepper; add the green beans and toss to coat. Using a slotted spoon or tongs, remove the green beans place them in the bottom of dish. Add the potatoes to the same olive-oil mixture and toss to coat. Using a slotted spoon or tongs, arrange the potatoes along the inside edge of the dish on top of the green beans. Place the chicken in the same bowl with the olive-oil mixture and coat thoroughly. Place the chicken, skin-side up, in the dish. Pour any of the remaining olive-oil mixture over the chicken.
  3. Roast for 50 minutes. Remove the chicken from the dish. Place the beans and potatoes back in oven for 10 minutes more or until the potatoes are tender.

Food For Thought:

Ranch Sausage Stars


1 - Package Original Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing Mix (prepared according to package directions)

1 - 10 oz package Jimmy Dean or Owens breakfast sausage, browned & drained

1 - 8 oz package Mexican 4 Cheese blend

1/2 - cup green or red bell pepper, chopped (optional)

1 - 12 oz package Wonton wrappers or (Egg rolls wrappers cut into 4ths)

Brown sausage and drain off any grease, set aside. Mix ranch dressing according to package directions. Mix the sausage, prepared dressing, bell pepper (if using) and cheese together and chill for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Place one wonton wrapper in a lightly greased standard size muffin tin. Bake 5-7 minutes until lightly golden brown. Watch them carefully so they don't get too brown.
Remove from oven and let cool a bit. When cooled add two tablespoon of the sausage mixture. Return to the oven and bake an additional 5-7 minutes until cheese melts. Let cool just a bit and serve.

Food for thought:

Easy Shrimp Alfredo

1/4 C Butter

8oz Cream Cheese

1C Shredded Parmesan Cheese

2 Tbsp of milk (maybe more)

1tsp minced garlic

2 C of medium shrimp

Pasta-I used angel hair

Cook pasta. while pasta is cooking, melt 1/2 stick butter in skillet, add minced garlic, add 8 oz cream cheese, stirring slowly to combine, add small package shredded parmesan and then milk to thin to the right consistency.

Food For Thought:

White Bread for a Bread Machine

For large (1 1/2lb.- 2lb.) machine 1 cup lukewarm water 1/3 cup lukewarm milk 3 tablespoons butter or margarine 3 3/4 cups King Arthur Unbleached All Purpose Flour 3 tablespoons sugar 1 1/2 teaspoons salt 1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast

Put all of the ingredients into your machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Program the machine for basic white bread, and press Start.

Homestead:

Chickens are rocking! we currently have 2 Dozen eggs in the fridge and getting about 5 eggs a day.

I have been not feeling so hot for the last few days so I have been loving my kindle. I cant believe I havent gotten this sooner. Let me share a few sites with you that deal with books/kindle. I love the Kindle Deal of the day.

Body of the Leaflet is complete! I did 4 leaves and 2 sets of extra increase. I need to do the sleeves and then the shawl collar.

I am now working on Clue 2 (7 Clues total)of the Mystery Sock by Knitter's brewing Company. Dont Forget about this months Contest.

I am about 80% done with the 1st of my Knuckle Busters.

I was thinking about making a couple of valentines gifts for my nephew's. Look at this pattern called Lovestruck, how CUTE!

really like how feelGR8 did it.

I also purchased myself a small treat. Left & Right stitch markers from HIDEandSHEEP. I am waiting on them to come in the mail so we can give them a test driver on my Mystery socks. Ill keep you posted.

I have applied to do a Rug hooking class during the event as well as Gerry and I will be vendoring there As Hopewood Crafts.

I have 4 yrds of Fabric I will be dyeing this weekend to test out the waters. (EXCITING!!)

Food For Thought:

Mushroom Chicken

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) butter
  • 4 skinless boneless chicken breast halves
  • 1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 2 tablespoons minced shallots
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 4 ounces grated mozzarella cheese

Directions

Melt butter over medium heat. Add mushrooms and shallots and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cook 10 minutes. Add chicken and cook 10 minutes on each side, or until tender. Transfer chicken to platter and sprinkle with grated cheese. Top with mushroom mixture. Cook and let stand 5 minutes or until cheese melts.

Happy Podiversary to me!!!

I have enjoyed the past year so much. Getting the chance to meet and talk with so many new listeners has been great. I have done things over the past year I can even imagine I would have done.

  1. Start a Podcast
  2. Going to a knitting camp alone
  3. organizing a knit in public event
  4. and just putting myself out there in general

I thank all of my listenings for that. So to say thank you to all of you I have a CONTEST- I LOVE CONTEST as you may have guessed. This one is pretty special- I reached out to Wendy from Knitters Brewing Company. And she as supplied this month's prize. IT IS AWESOME!

Leaflet is well on its way. I have completed the 3rd leaf and have decided in do a 4th one to add about 4 inches of length to the cardigan. I have decided to add at least 1 extra set of increases and may do a 2nd because I am hippy.

Lucky Charm Mystery sock1 Clue 1 was released yesterday 01/13/2012 but because I purchased the Kit I have had my 1st clue for about two weeks, so my toes of each foot are complete, next clue will be released 01/20/2012
Knuckle Buster which is a fingerless mitt pattern that I have decided I need for myself. My sister got a pair for Christmas and she told me she wears her almost everyday and for the last week at work I have been freezing. I have the PDF saved on my Kindle which is working out nicely. (Saving paper! and Printer ink)

Food for Thought:

Bacon Cheddar Quiche

3/4LBS Bacon (cooked and chopped up)

1/2C Onion

1 1/3C Cheddar cheese

1/2C Mozzarella Cheese

1C Half & Half

4 Large Eggs

1 t pepper

1t salt

1 pie crust

Place Pie crust into pie dish. Preheat oven to 400F. Mix eggs and half & half then mix in onion, bacon and cheese and seasonings. Bake Quiche for 15 minutes at 400 degrees then turn oven down to 350degrees and continue to bake for 25-30mins. ENJOY!

Starting on the left hand side is fingering weight-hot pink & silver-grey (LOVE IT!); the middle is strawberry red color in wool worsted weight 490yrds and right hand side fingering weight in green, chestnut and some blue (probably going to be socks for Gerry)- I LOVED THIS CLASS! and plan on exploring more with color.
